Reasons we’re single

My friend Mindy and I came to shocking conclusion this weekend: we’re old maids by the standards of our hometowns! We also found several reasons we might still be the aforementioned single girls in the city. Here goes:
We sing along with “We Are the Champions” whenever it comes on the radio, even if it’s the middle of Moe’s Southwestern Grill or if we’re just talking about it after church.
We “sword fight” with straws in public places.
We (OK, I) make strange sixth grade suicide concoctions at the soda machine at Moe’s.
We like to spend inordinate amounts of time talking about “girly” movies: Pride and Prejudice, The Notebook, Elizabethtown and so forth.
We laugh, a lot, loudly. And I sometimes snort when I laugh.
I cry uncontrollably at sappy movies and TV shows. Like can’t-catch-your-breath-hyperventilating sobbing. No pretty tears here.
And personally, I never know when a guy is interested in me because I’m clueless. (It’s genetic. My mom has to tell both me and my brother when someone is flirting with us.)
I’m sure there’s much more we added to that list last weekend, but I can’t think of it. But the general consensus we came to is pretty simple: Even though it’s sometimes so frustrating to want to share your life with a husband and have a family, that’s not what God has for us right now. And we’re willing to wait for His best. (And some days, that’s easier than others.) 🙂
