Four books on perspective we’re adding to our TBR list this winter
We’re unpacking a new theme this winter here at The Bookery as we explore the idea of perspective. For us, that means taking our eyes off ourselves and shifting our attention to what’s most important: God and the relationships he has placed in our lives. So over the next few months, we’ll be doing a little reading that will help us lift our eyes and refocus our perspective on what truly matters.

Here are a few of the books we’re adding to our TBR list.
Savor: Living Abundantly Where You Are, As You Are
Shauna Niequist
In today’s world, it’s easy to nurture an attitude of discontent without even meaning to. From carefully cultivated lives and homes on social media to the relationship you wish you had on your favorite TV show, it’s so easy to miss out on the really great moments of your real life because your attention is elsewhere, wishing for something else. Shauna Niequist’s Savor is a 365-day devotional that seeks to encourage readers to savor each day, no matter what it holds. Join us in reading it this year!
Finding God in Hidden Places: His Presence in the Pieces of Our Lives
Joni Eareckson Tada
A book of collected stories and memories from author, artist and advocate Joni Eareckson Tada, Finding God in Hidden Places is an invitation to open your eyes and see how God is at work in your life. We can all get mired down in the daily grind and the worries, stress and struggles of life, but this book is an opportunity to lift our eyes and train our hearts and minds to look for the ways God is at work in our lives—rather than everything that’s going wrong.
Rembrandt Is in the Wind: Learning to Love Art through the Eyes of Faith
Russ Ramsey
We weren’t promised that our lives would be easy (actually Jesus promised they wouldn’t be), and most of us have lived long enough to recognize that life is hard. It’s easy to lose sight of the beauty God has created as well as the beauty he shows us through his Word, his Spirit and his people. Russ Ramsey’s book examines the lives of some of the world’s most celebrated artists and helps us see how their lives and their works point to the work of God in the world.
Hope: Living Fearlessly in a Scary World
David Jeremiah
Fear, anxiety and worry can be crippling—and we’ve all experienced those emotions to some degree. In a world marked by war and contention, how could we not? David Jeremiah’s Hope helps us to refocus on God, his power and His work in this scary world. Rather than letting fear and anxiety rule our lives, Jeremiah invites us to shift our perspective and focus on the source of our hope.
