Read Philippians 2:5-11, focusing on verses 9-11. Dig deeper into what you’ve read by asking: 

• What does this passage teach me about Jesus, his character and why he came? 

• Because of Jesus’ humble obedience, God has given him the place of highest honor. What place do you give him in your life? 

• Thinking about all you’ve learned about Jesus through this Advent reading plan and all he has revealed to you through his Word, his Spirit and his people, why does he deserve your praise and worship? List some specific reasons. 

Journal

Philippians 2:9-11 describes a beautiful picture: people from every nation and language bowing in worship, declaring Jesus as Lord. Understand that as a Christian, you are part of the global family of Christ, lifting your praise to Jesus alongside believers around the globe—who you may never meet until eternity. Today, praise God for the beauty of his global church, worshiping Jesus as Lord in many languages and in different cultures. Thank God for the unique, beautiful ways he reveals himself to his children.
