Read Luke 2:8-20. Ask yourself:

• What do these verses teach me about Jesus and his character? 

• What do they reveal about why Jesus came? 

• What was the shepherds’ response to the news that Jesus had been born? Explain in your own words. 

• What is your response to the truth that Jesus was born, lived a sinless life, was crucified for your sin and mine, and rose again so that we might spend eternity with him?

Mulling over all that you’ve learned about Jesus and how he worked in time and space to save us from sin and restore our relationship with the Father for all eternity, record your prayer of praise today. Like the shepherds, are there things God has done in your life that you need to praise him for? Like Mary, are there instances in your life when you know God has been exceptionally and extravagantly kind? How will you treasure them in your heart today?
