Of all the qualities that could describe me. . .

graceful is not one of them. If there’s something you could possibly trip over, I do it. Sometimes I trip over nothing at all. I once sang in a group called Grateful Hearts, but my dad was convinced that it was called Graceful Hearts. My mom’s reply pretty much sums it up: “Keith, of course it’s not Graceful Hearts. Like Mandy could be in group with grace in the name!” Sad part, it’s pretty much true. I’m not known for my extreme grace!

So this morning, my day off from work, I’m doing a few things around the house. Cleaning up, fluffing the pillows, turning on the dishwasher. Then Muffin the Wonder Poodle decides to start pitching a fit about a cat or other dog outside. And I decide to take this moment, four years into living in Nashville and 7 years into Muffin’s life, to break her of this habit. So as I’m picking her up and taking her for some “time out” in her bed in the other room and muttering “Bad dog! No barking!” I slam my foot into the bookcase in my hallway. And end up falling to the floor in a heap as Muffin looks on like I’ve lost my mind. Now I stub my toe all the time, but this time the pain didn’t really fade. Then it started turning colors. Then it really hurt to walk. So now I have this bright purple big ol’ toe that’s possibly broken. Great way to start the new year! Here’s a pic so you can share in my pain 🙂
