Mandy’s 1st Annual All Music Top Fives

So I was on my way to work today, mentally ticking off everything that needs to get accomplished today, and realized I hadn’t posted here for over a week! Wow! Then, I came up with this brilliant idea. In order to get my creative juices flowing and ready to write the four remaining devotions I need to write for His Girl, a new girls mag/Bible study book I’m editing, I’ll write this wonderful little music review. So here goes!

Top 5 Albums I listen to over and over: 1. Randall Goodgame War and Peace 2. Andrew Peterson The Far Country 3. Marc Broussard Carencro 4. Josh Kelley Almost Honest 5. Griffin House Lost and Found (which, by the way, I have apparently misplaced and cannot find and am very angry with myself!

Top 5 songs that always make me smile: 1. Andy Davis “Brown Eyes” from Thinks of Her (How I wish I were the “her!” Check out Andy: www.andydavisonline.com 2. Randall Goodgame “The Opener” from War and Peace 3. Randall Goodgame “The Pope is a Lady” from War and Peace 4. Andrew Peterson “Nothing to Say” from Carried Along 5. David Mead “Nashville” from Indiana Honorable mention: “Susan Coats’ Pants” by Randall Goodgame on War and Peace

Top 5 sad songs I like for some reason: 1. “Goodbye My Lover” by James Blunt on Back to Bedlam 2. “Almost Honest” by Josh Kelley on Almost Honest 3. “You’re Beautiful’ by James Blunt on Back to Bedlam (the non-explicit version, though!) 4. “Doubting Thomas” by Nickel Creek on Why Should the Fire Die? (I’m not a big fan of the title track, though.) 5. “Something Crazy” by Franky Perez on Poor Man’s Son Honorable Mention: “Whiskey Lullaby” by Brad Paisley (I love him!) and Allison Krauss from his album, Mud on the Tires

Top 5 songs that always convict me: 1. Andrew Peterson “Silence of God” from Love and Thunder 2. Randall Goodgame “Jerusalem” from Hymnal 3. Randall Goodgame “I Did Not Catch Her Name” from War and Peace 4. Andrew Peterson “The Chasing Song” from Carried Along 5. Andrew Peterson “More” from The Far Country

Top 5 albums I’m proud to own: 1. Andrew Peterson–all of them: Carried Along, Clear to Venus, Love and Thunder, Behold the Lamb of God,and The Far Country 2. Marc Broussard Carencro 3. Ray LaMontagne Trouble 4. Randall Goodgame War and Peace 5. The Beatles Anthology (all of them)

Top 5 albums I’m embarrassed to find in my apartment: 1. Some Ricky Martin CD, his last all Spanish release, Vuelve. I was minoring in Spanish at the time and it helped me pass a final! 2. There’s a Michael Bolton CD–it is not included in the collection though (the one alphabetized by artist’s first name because I don’t deem it worthy) 3. James Blunt Back to Bedlam because it’s considered explicit and I didn’t know it. 4. My Point of Grace collection–embarrassed isn’t really the right word, I really think they’re great and stuff, I just don’t really listen to them anymore, ever. 5. I can’t think of one! I’m sure there is, but I just can’t think of it.

Artists I didn’t really like at first, but then they grew on me: 1. Rufus Wainswright 2. Andy Davis (I know! I thought he was depressing–now I just think he’s the greatest thing ever!) 3. Marc Broussard (“Home” got overplayed and began to annoy me!) 4. Coldplay 5. Anything country

Artists I think everyone needs to check out: 1. Dave Barnes (I work with his roommate, and Dave’s newest album, Chasing Mississippi is awesome!) 2. Andrew Peterson 3. Randall Goodgame (one of the best songwriters I’ve ever heard!) 4. Marc Broussard 5. Griffin House 6. Ari Hest 7. Joseph Arthur 8. Kathleen Edwards 9. Mindy Smith 10. The Fray

Albums I’m buying next: 1. Rebel, Sweetheart The Wallflowers 2. Brother, Bring the Sun and Chasing Mississippi Dave Barnes 3. Heavier Things and The John Mayer Trio John Mayer 4. Back to Me Kathleen Edwards 5. Let There Be Morning The Perishers

Enjoy!
