Extravagant Love

I’m in California for work. . .if you can call this work. I’m at church camp with no students under my charge! A great gig if you can swing it 🙂 But here I am in these beautiful mountains, surrounded by gigantic Ponderosa pines, and my cell phone won’t work and my personal computer won’t connect to the Internet and stay online long enough for me to do anything. Our tv doesn’t work. So I’ve been reading a lot, examing my Bible, spending time really focusing on Him. And in all of that, I realized how little I’ve actually been doing that lately. Sure, I’ve been about His work, but I haven’t been waiting, listening, and seeking Him in it.
Last night I went to the worship service for the Centrifuge campers. As we sang the lyrics “Your love is extravagant,” I was struck by the beauty of it. Here I am in a beautiful place of God’s creation and I’m surrounded by His love. More than that, I’m always surrounded by His love. And His love is too much, too costly, to expensive to give, yet He did. It still stuns me. Your love, oh Lord, is extravagant. Amen!
