Andrew Peterson rocks my face off!

It’s Wednesday. Hump Day. The middle of the week, the beginning of the march toward the weekend. So I should be happy about having to go to work. I should be filled with unspeakable joy at getting to work on a Mac all day long (hey, it’s better than working on a PC–I’m becoming a convert, Kelly Lewis!!!) Instead, it’s Wednesday and I have two long meetings and a chili cook-off with my co-workers that will take up the 3 hours between meetings! I’m not so much looking forward to the day as counting down the hours until it’s over.

But Andrew Peterson is helping me through the lull and bad attitude. I’m jamming out to his newest, The Far Country. Somehow Andrew always finds a way to say so very eloquently exactly what my heart is thinking. In the midst of all this busyness–the work, meetings, fellowship, phone calls, the worries about family and friends, the fact that I’m behind on every product I work on, the picture of a friend I no longer know how to contact that stares at me from the memo board beside my computer monitor–to know that God;s in control is an awesome thought. A God who created all things, even the things we never see. A God who knows my name and knew it from the beginning of time. A God who created me and called His creation good. A God who created me to love me. A God who gives me a name and hope. To stop and realize that in the middle of a seemingly endless work day is a blessing in itself. So, thank you, Andrew Peterson, for writing a song called “Mountains” and reminding me of the power of my God!

So today when you’re tempted to start counting down the hours and wishing away your time in the world God created, when you’re overwhelmed by life and all the worries and circumstances that come with it, remember that you have a God who not only cares, you have a God who knows your name and your burdens. You have a God who created you so He could love you. Why not let Him do it?
